Shared service review

We shape the future of ICT development for local authorities


During 2014 South Northamptonshire Council, Cherwell District Council and Stratford-upon-Avon District Council commissioned us to complete an independent health check review. The aim was for us to help shape the next five years of ICT development and to ensure the service would be able to deliver the councils’ objectives.


We based our approach upon on a three-stage engagement. In Stage 1 we reviewed the current ICT service. This included assessment of a number of key areas such as strategic direction, business as usual activities and governance. Stage 2 included creation of a commercial business case, leading to the development of a commercial strategy in Stage 3.


From our detailed review we were able to identify a series of challenges and issues. Key findings, options and recommendations were presented to senior stakeholders. The outputs were well received and led to a further engagement for us to support the transition back to a two-way ICT Shared Services partnership.
