Highlights of our recent achievements – both in and out of the office!
As a business change consultancy, people are our business, and our employees are our most important asset. Investing in their wellbeing is a priority.
We’re committed to work-life balance, wellbeing, flexibility and open communication. Listening to our team, we’ve embraced hybrid working but to support collaboration and social connection, we maintain a central Birmingham hub. This year we moved to a larger office, with more space for meeting and teamwork.
Our focus on people is something ingrained in our culture. Our values – Care, Collaboration, Commitment, Integrity and Versatility – guide everything we do, with each other and with our clients. This is one of the reasons we made the 2025 UK’s Best Workplaces in Consulting & Professional Services ™ list. The survey found that everyone in the business considered it a great place to work, with the average score of 98% across the 59 questions.
Delivering great service has seen us recognised in the Consultancy UK’s list of top consulting firms in 2025, and with such a busy year in work, our people have been equally busy outside it!
Here are some of the things we’ve been up to in 2025.
Scaling the Scottish Highlands
Our team are often on the lookout for ways to push themselves individually as well, and our Director of Operations, Sarah Towers, and Programme Director, Allan Gordon completed an impressive ultra-marathon across the remote Scottish Highlands in May. After taking time to recover they were back in race mode, completion further ultra-marathon and marathons overseas, including in Canada and the Sahara Desert!
We walked to Canada!
We’re always keen to push ourselves as a team, which is why we took on a walking challenge together in May. Over the course of the month, we walked a combined total of 4,248km – the equivalent distance from Birmingham to Augustus, Canada!
Running, but blindfolded?
As if our team hadn’t done enough crazy challenges, one of our Consultants, Eilis Garton-Marrows, took getting out of her comfort zone to a whole new level when she completed a 12-mile blindfolded run. That’s right, she joined a group of fellow adventurers who were blindfolded and dropped off at an unknown location before running for 12 miles to find their way home.
Swimming for Macmillan
Continuing the fitness trend, our Marketing Communications Manager, Justine Howl combined her love of exercise and a good cause by committing to swimming 21 miles throughout June and July. In doing so she has raised £400 for Macmillan.
Beating the summer heat
Throughout July, we also opted to beat the heat by completing a cold shower challenge! Every day, we either had a full cold shower, the last 30 seconds as a cold shower, or a cold water dip outside. We love a monthly challenge to bring the team together and encourage us to chat about our experiences.
Award nomination for Lacey
Our consultant, Lacey Shepherd, was shortlisted for the Greater Birmingham Apprentice of the Year award, as part of the Greater Birmingham Young Professional Awards 2025. This is testament to her fantastic work at Entec Si over the past year.
