Allan Gordon

Strategic advice and direction

I lead transformation programmes that deliver real change, blending strategy, delivery, and people-focused leadership. With over 15 years’ experience across a range of sectors, I help teams adopt Agile ways of working, modernise services, and leave long–lasting change. Outside work, I find balance by running marathons in amazing locations across the world.

Allan says

"I make the complex feel simple, listen with empathy, and focus on people as much as processes.”

My role

I lead transformation programmes that truly make a difference, helping clients try new ways of working without overcomplicating things. Whilst keeping delivery on track and straightforward, I also coach leaders to bring out the best in their teams. I focus on turning strategy into action that sticks, creating space for people to enjoy the work while achieving results. Trusted relationships, energy, and optimism are at the heart of how I drive complex change.

Skills and experience

I’ve spent over 15 years leading programmes and projects across a range of sectors, helping teams and leaders adopt Agile in ways that feel natural and effective. I shape digital strategies, redesign services, and work seamlessly with partners to create a unified team experience. Known for clear, honest communication, I build strong relationships and create spaces where people can perform at their best, all while keeping governance and delivery on track.

Career highlights

These include leading large-scale transformations that make change stick, such as a five-year digital programme with Sheffield City Council and new operating models with International Airlines Group during COVID. I’ve helped organisations embrace business agility, modernise technology, and keep people engaged through complex shifts. From British Airways to local government, I focus on leaving behind confident, high-performing teams, not dependency. And outside of work, I channel the same persistence, for example, running the Belfast Marathon in 2hrs 50 mins.

What characteristics do you think make you good at your role?

I’m known for keeping things positive and bringing energy into the room, even in tough situations. I make the complex feel simple, listen with empathy, and focus on people as much as processes. Pragmatic and outcome-driven, I cut through the noise to get things done without taking myself too seriously. A little humour goes a long way, and I believe enjoying the journey matters just as much as achieving the outcome.

What I love
about my job

What I love most is making a difference with people, not to them. I enjoy building honest relationships and having fun along the way, because in my opinion, change doesn’t have to be heavy. Whether it’s improving a process or creating space for new ideas, I love seeing people thrive, knowing that we enjoyed the work together.

How do you relax away from work?

Running isn’t everyone’s idea of relaxing, but it’s mine. I’ve been running for 25 years, from 100m sprints to marathons and ultra-distances. These days it’s not about racing, it’s about experiences: running through the Highlands, across the Sahara, and discovering what’s next. It clears my head, gives me stories to share, and reminds me that the journey is just as important as the finish line.

What words of wisdom would you give your younger self?

Don’t react straight away. Take a breath, reflect, and then respond. Most things aren’t as urgent or as serious as they feel in the moment. Enjoy the experiences, have fun with the people you meet along the way, and don’t worry so much about having all the answers. The best results often come from teamwork, curiosity, and laughter.

Pet hate

Littering. It shows a lack of respect for places and people, and it’s something I’ll never understand.

Five dream dinner guests

  • Sir Alex Ferguson for his no-nonsense leadership (and football stories)
  • Barack Obama for perspective, calmness, and humour
  • Billy Connolly for guaranteed laughter and brilliant stories
  • Steve Jobs to challenge the conversation and spark ideas
  • Randy Santel to finish the dinner with an eating challenge

If you had to take one book, one film and one album on a desert island, what would they be?

  • Book: Googlewhack (an adventure by Dave Gorman)
  • Film:  Rocky IV (motivation in its purest form)
  • Album: Travelling Without Moving by Jamiroquai

One thing no one would know about you

Most people know I have a tremor in my hands, but I rarely talk about the anxiety that comes with it. Working in environments that demand control and clarity, it’s something I’ve had to learn to manage over the years. It’s taught me resilience, patience, and the importance of being open about the challenges we can’t always control.

Last supper choice

It would have to be a full Chinese banquet. I’d start with mixed hors d’oeuvres, followed by pork in black pepper sauce (with extra chilies – it’s my last meal, after all). Chips over rice, every time. And it wouldn’t be complete without mountains of prawn crackers on the side.
