Sarah Towers

Strategic advice and direction

I manage Entec Si’s day-to-day operations, whilst guiding clients through complex, business-critical programmes. With 30 years’ experience across government, education, and health, I bring focus, organisation, and strategic insight to every challenge. I love building strong relationships, mentoring teams, and delivering transformation that creates real, lasting impact for organisations and the people they serve.

Sarah says

"I genuinely enjoy building honest, trusted relationships with clients and colleagues, and take great satisfaction in mentoring and empowering others.”

My role

I have a dual role in Entec Si. I manage the day-to-day operations of the business, but also provide our clients with strategic insight, guidance and direction.

Skills and experience

With over 30 years’ experience in large corporate organisations, I specialise in delivering transformation and business change through people, process and technology. I worked for over a decade in the steel industry before spending five years as account director for BAE Submarines at Capita.

I’ve built a reputation as a dynamic, results-driven leader, with a track record in business transformation. I blend strategy with execution, and I’m passionate about empowering others to grow and thrive.

Career highlights

Many! Working for 12 months to secure and deliver the Scottish Wide Area Network was a major initiative, providing a single shared network and common ICT infrastructure across Scotland’s public sector. The teamwork, collaboration and innovation were amazing and seeing the real benefits first–hand in some of the most remote and inhospitable places of the UK gave me a huge sense of satisfaction.

What characteristics do you think make you good at your role?

I’m naturally focused and results-driven, with a determined attitude that helps me tackle challenges effectively. I genuinely enjoy building honest, trusted relationships with clients and colleagues, and take great satisfaction in mentoring and empowering others.

Being meticulously organised allows me to stay on track and maintain focus, even when facing complex or demanding problems.

What I love
about my job

I love seeing the team’s passion and enthusiasm for helping a diverse range of clients navigate business change challenges. It’s incredibly satisfying when we successfully deliver and make a real impact.

How do you relax away from work?

Adventuring, taking on new challenges and trying new and different things that scare, but also excite me! I have the DRD4-74 adventure gene!

The challenges are usually physical: I’ve been to Everest Base Camp, climbed Kilimanjaro twice, completed the Marathon des Sables, cycled Land’s End to John O’Groats to name just a few.

I’m also a qualified yoga teacher which brings balance to my life.

What words of wisdom would you give your younger self?

Don’t be afraid to try something – it doesn’t matter if you don’t succeed or make mistakes.

Pet hate

Lack of honesty. It might sometimes be hard, but just say it!

Five dream dinner guests

  • Kenton Cool: British climber who’s been up Everest 19 times, so will have a story or two. He does a great podcast too.
  • Taylor Swift: an icon and great to listen to on New Heights (her boyfriend’s podcast!). Would give me kudos with my niece, as well!
  • Bob Mortimer: he’s hilarious and a big Middlesbrough fan!
  • Ryan Reynolds: I’ve loved his Wrexham journey and he’s another one who’d keep us all entertained
  • Sir David Attenborough: he’s just a legend, and must be the most widely travelled person ever

If you had to take one book, one film and one album on a desert island, what would they be?

Tricky one, as I never reread a book or watch films twice…

  • Book: depends on whether I need to find my way off: ‘how to build a raft guide’ might be useful. Otherwise, something long that needs concentration, maybe Outlander by Diana Gabaldon (love the TV programmes but haven’t read the books yet)
  • Film: Mamma Mia – to boost my spirits, plus it’s like an extra album!
  • Album: Madonna’s Immaculate Collection – an old, but classic collection, I could sing along to for hours!

One thing no one would know about you

I’ve played the double bass in orchestral concerts across Europe including at the Palace of Fontainbleau in Paris.

Last supper choice

A parmo – coming from Teesside there’s no other option.
