Operational, financial and people improvements
As chief executive, I’m responsible for our company’s vision and growth. With a diverse background, including biochemistry and programme directorship, I’m experienced in working across a range of sectors and disciplines. My passion lies in helping people and watching our team and clients thrive.
"I’m proud of the impact we make, and seeing the genuine change our work brings is what truly drives me.”
I’m the chief exec at Entec Si and a 50 per cent shareholder, responsible for ensuring the business has a clear vision, strategy and growth plan. I provide leadership to the team and support communications, PR, and engagement activities.
One of my responsibilities is business development and client relationship management. Ultimately, I’m accountable for the success of the business and the team within it.
I began my career with nine years working as a research associate in biochemistry, before retraining as a business analyst in 1998. I then gradually moved into programme management and later programme directorship, all whilst running Entec Si, where I became CEO in 2021. Throughout this time, I’ve delivered a wide range of projects across local government, the NHS, charities and the private sector.
Completing my BSc in Biochemistry was a key milestone, followed by publishing my first paper on cardiac muscle contraction, successfully earning my PhD.
In 2019, I was honoured to win both the Institute of Directors’ ‘Director of the Year’ award (SME category) and English Businesswoman of the Year. That same year, I also achieved a personal milestone by earning my private pilot’s licence.
I love helping people. Everything else flows from that!
I love the variety: every day is different. It’s incredibly rewarding to see our team grow and thrive and to watch clients move from frustration to real progress. I’m proud of the impact we make and seeing the genuine change our work brings is what truly drives me. Being able to do what I love and get paid for it is something I never take for granted.
Exercise is important to me, so my weekly activities usually involve running or going to the gym and a lot of walking. I have a lot of friendship groups, which typically centre around activities such as going to the theatre, fine dining and wild ‘dipping’. Although my absolute favourite has to be flying!
Always trust your gut…
I’ve got a couple of different ones:
I’d have to choose:
I was born a ‘blue baby’ and had to have an operation at the age of six to close the hole in the heart.
Crikey, this is miserable! Not sure I’d have an appetite at that point in time! But if it had to be anything, it would be a piece of steak with super noodles!
Working with Birmingham Airport to successfully deliver a large number of projects and programmes – my favourite environment and it motivated me to learn to fly!
Delivering the whole people, process, technology, change piece for the Library of Birmingham, including planning and executing the soft landing and opening process.
Changing career into the world of IT and technology, and in 1998, meeting my business partner Peter and joining Entec Si in 2000.
Doing a part time PhD whilst working full time; publishing papers in scientific journals and going to conferences around the world talking about my discovery.
We put people at the heart of what we do and as a team we celebrate our success.
